GRIMZ GYM is a boxing gym. Our primary focus is competitive boxing
on the amateur and professional level.
Q: What does my paid membership entitle me to ?
A: Unlimited number of classes each week and unlimited use of the gym every hour we’re open.
Q: Do you have a beginner’s class ?
A: Our classes are designed for all experience levels and people of all ages and experience attend class together. Just arrive with a good, friendly attitude and be ready to give 110%.
Q: I visit Sacramento on business can I drop in and train ?
A: Yes ! Our one-time visit fee of $10 entitles you to unlimited use of the gym for the day, including classes.
Q: I just want to lose weight and get in shape, is Grimz for me ?
A: Probably not. This is not an aerobics or crossfit class with boxing gloves. We are a hardcore boxing gym, where you will be pushed beyond endurance. You’re smiling. Don’t. We’re serious, it’s ugly.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment to join up or take a class ?
A: No. Just walk in during regular business hours.
Q: What equipment do I need to get started ?
A: Minimally, you should purchase handwraps, which we offer for $10/pair. We provide a limited number of ‘community use’ jump ropes and training gloves. For sparring we provide headgear, lace-up gloves and groin protectors. It is recommended that, as you advance in your skills, you purchase ‘personal use’ gear.
Q: What can I expect during a typical class ?
A: The class lasts for about 90 minutes. It may be held indoors and outdoors. There may be large group, small group and pairs exercises. The first part of the class is ‘from the waist down’ and may include core, cardio, strengthening exercises. The second part of the class is ‘from the waist up’ and may include working on heavy bags, speed bags, double end bags, BOB (our body opponent bag ‘rubber men’) head and feet movement techniques, and focus mitts.
Q: When are classes held ?
A: Classes start promptly at 11:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Thursday. Occasionally, if class attendance is very light, we hold open gym and members train on their own.
Q: I have a child, do you charge less for children ?
A: Children actually require MORE attention, but we keep the cost for children and adults the same: $25 a week.
Q: Do you have a kids’ class ?
A: Our kids class is CLOSED to new members. Young children of age 10+, pre-teens and teens normally do fine attending our morning and evening classes.
Q: How long have you been at this location ?
A: We have been at this location for over 3 years. Prior to that, Head Coach Mel trained fighters at various gyms and locations around the city. See the “About Us” page for more information.
Q: Do you have pricing options besides those listed on your website ?
A: No. Unlike most other gyms that demand you pay 1 month, 6 months or a year up front, we keep it simple.
Q: Will I have to sign a contract ?
A: No ! You will be asked to sign a waiver, which any health or sports club will ask of you, and be asked to provide us with emergency contact info, any health issues, etc.
Q: How much do you charge for sparring ?
A: Sparring is included with your paid membership.
Q: How often does sparring occur at your gym ?
A: After each morning class, after each evening class, every 2nd Saturday, and any time we have members or outside fighters who want to spar !
Q: Can I bring my fighter(s) to spar at your gym ?
A: Yes ! We regularly have fighters come to our gym to spar. Contact us in advance at the gym number: 916-346-4161.

A: Yes ! We charge a reduced rate of $75 a month per fighter, which entitles your fighter(s) to use our equipment, our ring, and spar our members and other fighters.
Q: How many trainers do you have ?
A: We have a head coach and 3 assistant coaches. Current and former amateur fighters who have trained under our head coach are always happy to assist new members.
Q: Do you offer private training ?
A: Yes ! IF you are a member, we charge $1.00 a minute, with a 30 minute minimum. Private training is available from 1:30pm – 4:30pm, M-F. You must reserve time well in advance.
Q: Do you charge administrative fees ?
A: Absolutely not !
Q: Do you charge late fees ?
